Occupational Health Training

Our goal is to prepare faculty, staff, and students to respond confidently to health and safety emergencies, while also promoting long-term well-being in the workplace. Through our training programs, we provide the knowledge and skills needed to prevent injuries, respond to medical incidents, and support mental health for our campus community.

Monthly and on-demand
CPR for Adults 1.5 hours
CPR for Adults and infants 2 hours
BLS 2 hours

This course is focused on helping students recognize various first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants. It is designed for students who need a certification that satisfies OSHA workplace or other regulatory requirements. This class is taught in a blended learning format, and the online portion must be completed before attending the Instructor-led skills session. A valid 2-year digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED is issued upon completion.
Certification is given at the course’s end and is valid for 2 years.

On-demand 5 hours

This program is designed to empower you to support colleagues, students, and others who are experiencing mental health challenges. Mental Health First Aid for Adults teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions.
Monthly and on-demand: 5 hours

On-demand 5 hours

This program is designed to teach parents, caregivers, teachers, staff, neighbors, human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge or is in crisis. Please use the training request form to submit your request for this training.

Quarterly and on-demand: 30 minutes

The Narcan training program at UC Santa Cruz is designed to equip community members with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to opioid overdoses effectively. The training focuses on the use of Narcan (naloxone), a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. The training is open to Staff and Faculty.

Risk Services is committed to providing a comprehensive safe driving program for UC Santa Cruz employees. The goals of the Driver Safety Program are to increase awareness of guidelines for the safe use of University vehicles, and to provide a driving training program with safe driving information.
