Be Smart About Safety (BSAS)

Each year, Office of the President Risk Services budgets a small amount of its total budget allocation to fund proactive Loss Prevention and Loss Control projects. This funding is intended for projects specific to the purpose of reducing the frequency and/or severity of potential loss in the areas of workers’ compensation, general liability, employment, auto and property programs.

Healthy Campus Network (HCN)

The Healthy Campus Network initiative uses an integrative approach to health, guided by the core values of fostering a high level of wellness, encouraging personal responsibility, respecting diversity, and working to reduce health inequalities.

Faculty and Staff Wellness

UC Santa Cruz Faculty and Staff Wellness Program is here to support you on your wellness journey. Faculty and staff can participate in a wide range of health and wellness programs designed to help you be healthy and stay motivated. We are dedicated to creating a positive, impactful, thriving culture of health and well-being throughout campus.

Smoke and Tobacco Free

UC’s Smoke & Tobacco-free policy reflects the University of California’s commitment to provide a healthier, safe and productive work and learning environment for the entire campus community. As a national leader in healthcare and environmental practices, UC has created a smoke-free environment on all UC campuses, medical centers and properties. The systemwide policy has been adopted by all UC campuses to improve the health and safety of all students, staff, faculty and visitors, resulting in healthier environments at all UC campuses and medical centers.

Violent Acts Mitigation & Prevention

The purpose of the VAMP program is to significantly improve each campuses’ ability to mitigate and/or intervene in potential violent acts and ensure compliance with state laws. Violent acts include any physical assault, threat of assault (written, electronic, verbal, or otherwise), and/or threatening behavior (physical or verbal) occurring in its campus or medical centers (workplace setting).

WorkStrong

The WorkStrong program is a University of California systemwide program designed to promote recovery and prevent future workplace injuries. Occupational health doctors will refer medically eligible faculty or staff members who have experienced a workplace injury to the WorkStrong program. WorkStrong is provided at no cost and is a comprehensive program that is designed to meet the specific needs of each client. Our goal is to provide a fun and challenging environment for education, awareness and improved health.
