Mental Health First Aid (monthly and on-demand): 10am-3:30pm
We are excited to announce an opportunity to enhance your skills and support our campus community by participating in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification training. This valuable program is designed to empower you with the knowledge and skills to assist colleagues, students, and others who may be experiencing mental health challenges.
Mental Health First Aid for Adults teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions.
CPR/First Aid/AED (monthly and on demand): 11-1:30PM
CPR First Aid:
- Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED blended learning course equips students to recognize and care for various first aid breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults children and infants. It is designed for students who need a certification that satisfies OSHA workplace or other regulatory requirements. This class is taught in a blended learning format and the online portion must be completed before attending the Instructor-led skills session. A valid 2-year digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED is issued upon completion.
BLS (only for students):
- BLS stands for Basic Life Support. This certification course trains healthcare professionals including nurses, physicians, EMS professionals, and other healthcare and public safety personnel to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children, and infants.
Certification is given at the course’s end and is valid for 2 years.
Narcan Training (quarterly or on-demand): 12PM-1PM
The Narcan training program at UC Santa Cruz is designed to equip community members with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to opioid overdoses effectively. The training focuses on the use of Narcan (naloxone), a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. The training is open to Staff and Faculty.
