Risk Management Services

The UC Santa Cruz Risk Services Office supports the campus by assisting faculty, staff and students to indentify and strategically manage their risk exposures associated with their activities. The Risk Services Office is responsible for administering risk management programs, insurance, and claims.

Office of President Risk Services (OPRS) is responsible for the management of systemwide risk management programs including the placement of insurance.

Travel Risks

The university has arranged for employees and students traveling on official university business to be covered for a wide variety of accidents and incidents while away from the campus or primary workplace at no cost to the traveler or their unit.

The UCSC Workers’ Compensation office coordinates the claims process with Sedgwick and works closely with employees and their departments to identify transitional work assignments.

Risk Services is committed to providing a comprehensive safe driving program for UC Santa Cruz employees. The goals of the Driver Safety Program are to increase awareness of guidelines for the safe use of University vehicles, and to provide a driving training program with safe driving information.

Our campus has established the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). The BIT is a multidisciplinary, rapid response team for evaluating incidents of potential or actual violence within the UCSC community.

Our team includes specialists in disability management, workers’ compensation, property & casualty, risk mitigation, faculty & staff well-being, and occupational health. In addition, we provide comprehensive resources, and ongoing support to foster a culture of safety and a healthy work environment.
